< Go Back Sticking to these three simple time management principles will ensure that you'll finish your project on time and also have time to relax! Posted: Oct 21, 2016 Be Clear on Where You're
Going
Do you ever feel that there just
aren't enough hours in the day? Very often,
when we run out of time to complete work projects or personal pursuits, it's
because we've actually squandered our time on unimportant or irrelevant tasks
or been side-tracked by social media or games.
When we are focused and total
clear about where we are going, and what we want to achieve, it's easy to make
the most of all the available time.
Decisions become easy to make, actions easy to take and you can get a
lot accomplished in a short period of time.
Realistically, it's not always possible to be quite
so focused but even so it is surprisingly easy to eliminate most of the wasted
time with a bit of time management.
1.
First, plan your work
Take a few moments to work
out where you're going and how you plan to get there. You don't need to know all the steps or
details; just write down the basic outline as you see it.
2.
Then gather your resources
Make sure you have
everything you're going to need so that once you've started you won't have to
stop simply because you are missing something important. Every time you have to stop you run the risk
of being distracted and losing focus.
3.
Finally, set a time and
work your plan
Give yourself a timeline
and decide how long you'll work on your task or project. Then follow your outline step-by-step and
focus only on the task at hand. Resist
every temptation to check emails, answer the phone or have a chat with a
friend. If you do get lost or
distracted, come back to your outline, regain your focus and start working
again on the next step.
Sticking to these simple time management
principles will ensure that not only will you finish your project on time but you
will also have time to relax... and plan what you are going to do next!
